VITAMINS-Hype or Necessity

Multivitamins, which typically contain about 27 different vitamins and minerals, and often provide almost 100% of the Recommended US Daily Allowance of these micronutrients.

For those few who eat a healthy diet, a multivitamin may have some benefit. A diet that includes plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and prtoein ought to provide most of the nutrients needed for good health. But sadly ,not everyone eats a healthy diet and therefore, a multivitamin supplement may be necessary.

A multivitamin cannot in any way replace a healthy diet. The main purpose of a multivitamin is to fill in nutritional gaps, and provide a good source of vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Hence, multivitamins can play an important role when nutritional requirements are not met through diet alone.
