Five Senses

The five senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, each linked to a specific organ and sensory function.

Overview of the Five Senses

  • Sight: The eyes detect light and color, allowing us to see and interpret visual information.

  • Hearing: The ears detect sound waves, enabling us to hear noises, music, and speech.

  • Smell: The nose picks up scents and odors through airborne particles, helping us distinguish between different smells.

  • Taste: The tongue detects flavors such as sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami, allowing us to enjoy and distinguish different foods.

  • Touch: The skin senses pressure, texture, temperature, and pain, helping us feel sensations like hot, cold, rough, or smooth surfaces.
